Just because the police have evidence against you does not mean you will be convicted and sent to jail. It is important to examine how the police obtained that evidence and whether any of your rights were violated in the process. For example, did the police properly obtain a search warrant? If you were convicted of drug possession at a traffic stop, did the officer have probable cause to arrest you?

Diversionary programs can help you avoid unnecessary conviction, jail time and a criminal record by placing you in a program designed to rehabilitate, rather than punish you.

For example, if you were addicted to drugs at the time of your arrest, we may be able to convince the judge to suspend prosecution for up to two years while you complete treatment, after which we may be able to get the charges dismissed. If you are eligible, we may be able to get you into the Drug Education and Community Service Program (DE&CSP). If you are successful in that program, the drug charges against you will be dismissed a year after you were granted the program.
